Rooted in the Word, Renewed in the Truth: woman journalling alongside scripture and affirmations

Have you ever questioned God's presence? Ever wondered whether He has, in fact, forgotten about you whilst you're in the midst of a painful trial?

Despite it being some time ago now, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was 21 and heartbroken.

Having only recently recommitted my life to God, everything inside of me was screaming to go back to my old ways of coping, and yet this small flicker of faith I'd recently reignited was gently inviting me to stay.

I didn't want to. But some persistent friends, more seasoned in the faith than I, shared scripture and truth with me in such a way that it cut through the internal noise and stared me in the face.

"

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Psalm 46:5

That's one of the ones I remember from all those years ago. I think the friend in question wrote my name in the place of the word 'her', and something about seeing it there in black and white gave me the courage to keep going, despite everything within me feeling as though the outcome was bleak.

Fast forward to today and I can remind myself of passages in James which tell us:

"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it, not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it, they will be blessed in what they do."

James 1:23–25

Affirmations are essentially the thing I go to in order to remind myself of what I look like; of my identity in Him who is immovable, even when I feel anything but.

Because if we're to do what the Bible says, as opposed to simply reading it and leaving it there, that includes doing the hard, holy workbelow…

Hebrews 12:2

Now, you don't need to go any further than the Bible and those verses I've just shared with you if you don't want to.

However… if I told you I've created an interactive resource that allows you to share your specific situation with it directly, the one you've prayed about, cried about, and wondered whether it will ever be any different, would you want to know more?
